Whanganui Boxon will have extra representation in the Mid Central Zone Vipers team which runs out on to Cooks Gardens tomorrow against the Wellington Orcas after their inspirational captain Steelie Koro threw his name into the ring.
The former NZ Heartland rugby player, who has led the Boxon for thepast two seasons from stand-off, had not been available for representative league duty for the Manawatu Mustangs earlier this year due to the arrival of a new baby.
However, Central Zone Rugby League chief executive Lisa Reweti said Koro had made himself available for the Vipers NZRL National Premiership campaign and so would don the No6 jumper tomorrow.
He will join his Boxon teammates, Che Barlow (centres) and Jordan Davis (second row), in the line-up.
Boxon will also be represented in the under-17 curtain raiser game between the Vipers and Orcas, with Dylan Ruki-Fowlie in the Central line-up.
Also, the opening game tomorrow will see Wanganui College Girls take on Taranaki College Girls, with the home team being represented from players from each local secondary school.
Tomorrow the teams will also wear black armbands in the memory of Wanganui and Manawatu league stalwart Richard "Dickie" Puohotaua, who died on Thursday.
The girls college game is at 11am and the under-17s play at 1pm.
