The demand was high to play in the Wanganui RSA's 8-Ball Open tournament at the weekend.
A field of 82 had to be capped at 60 so the singles competition could get through all the games on the RSA tables on Saturday and Sunday, with round robin section play beingwhittled down to the final competitors Sunday afternoon.
"No other tournament this side of the Bombay Hills had players of this calibre," said convenor Dallas Rodgers.
The tournament winner was Taradale's Bayden Jackson, a national champion in snooker and the New Zealand Open of pool, while the runner-up was New Plymouth's Ryan King, 15, who is a member of the New Zealand Youth Cue Sports team.
Keeping it in the Jackson family, Taradale's Tara Jackson won Top Lady at the tournament.
