Group 1 racing continues at the Hatrick Raceway this evening where three heats will decide the finalists for next Friday's $40,000 NZ Breeders' Stakes.

Those 520m heats are totally dominated by greyhounds from three powerful kennels - Lisa Cole, Karen Walsh, plus Dave and Jean Fahey.

The first heat (Race 7) features Monday's 457m $15,000 North Island Challenge Stakes winner Allegro Gun from the Cole kennels.

His first taste of 520m racing at this venue adds intrigue.

Kennelmate Bigtime Thinker has drawn nicely in the one trap.

Thrilling Hettie for Walsh plus the Fahey prepared pair of Mandy Junior and Albie Punter hold qualifying claims.

Expected to control the second heat (Race 8) is the Walsh-trained Thrilling Surge, who was a strong 520m winner in 30.08s last Friday.

Also featuring in this heat are last Friday's Group 1 minor place getters Bigtime Bell (Cole) and Bomb's Falling (Fahey's).

Opawa Brad was fourth in that event for the Fahey's, while the Cole-trained Bigtime Jason was checked when rounding the first turn in that final.

The final heat (Race 9) contains Spare Some Time, who stylishly won last Friday's $25,000 NZ Futurity.

He will be jumping from trap eight for Cole here.

His kennelmates Spring Allegro, who has early pac,e and the strong finishing Bigtime Power are both capable of securing a finals field position from this heat.

The proven staying greyhound Thrilling Flo is resuming from a brief freshen up and she has drawn to use her known early pace for Walsh from the ace trap.

The Fahey's will looking towards their Group race finalist Fair Pippa to advance for them.

Meanwhile, up at the Manukau Stadium on Sunday, the final of the Plasterboard Duke Of Edinburgh Silver Collar (Race 10) being decided over the gruelling 779m distance.

The field contains previous Hatrick 755m Group 1 Wanganui Distance race winners Tranquil Blossom and Shandell.

Both stayers are expected to feature at the business end of the $80,000 race, although both will be wary of the powerful 46.31s heat win by Australian-trained stayer Ring The Bell.

An additional meeting will be held at Hatrick on Tuesday with the first of twelve races being dispatched at 3.26pm.
