A rising star within the open class chasing ranks was discovered last Friday at Hatrick when the Lisa Ahern-trained What's Up Gee stepped up in class, taking on higher graded and more experienced greyhounds to lead his rivals throughout.

His smart 30.16s 520m gallop earned him his open class chasing stripes and he returns to attempt to serve up a repeat dose in this evening's first leg of the TAB Quaddie.

What's Up Gee must adopt the same pace-making racing tactics again, otherwise the more hardened chasers will be gunning for him. Included will be last Friday's runner-up Jannik, who came up a head short when he finished stoutly.

He hasn't drawn as well tonight, but his big race experience must be respected for trainer Denis Schofield.

The Paul Freeman and Angela Turnwald-prepared Rigs found himself caught up in the midfield traffic from where he never emerged from last week.

His proven previous history on this circuit says he can't be ignored here.

A newcomer to this meeting is Cawbourne Phillip from the John McInerney kennels.

He brings solid Addington form north with him and a competitive race can be expected from the good draw.

The second leg sees the Schofield-trained Cosmic Pearl coming up with the draw advantage after being allocated the ace trap.

She returns here after delivering a slippery last start Cambridge 375m win.

Others to consider in this dash are Popsome Tags (Freeman/Turnwald), Armed Forces (Ahern) and Exponential Lily (Ahern).

Ahern produced Rosemore Osti to win her 305m sprint here last Friday and a similar result can occur in the third Quaddie leg.

The expected challenge to her is likely to emerge from another Schofield-trained sprinter Calamity Free from trap-one while Leadfoot Lenny is capable of pinging away from the traps for Lana Udy.

The enigma in this sprint is Ya Laughin' for local trainer Bernie Mitchell.

His charge has been known to take the occasional flyer when the traps lift. He holds upset claims by doing exactly that.

The final Quaddie leg looms as the most open, where a sound case can be made for numerous sprinters taking part.

Danato is a proven Schofield-trained sprinter who can feature here.

Wanganui trainer Melisa Olden has the nicely drawn Belkara ticking over sweetly at the moment.

Out wider, the Freeman and Turnwald-prepared kennel mates Teprita Rita and Run Lacey Run have both drawn the swoop.

Fiery Dancer is quite capable of overcoming the poor draw she has been allocated.
