Rangitikei youngster Harry Godfrey franked his NZ Post Cup form with a century for The Watsons U13 cricket X1 against Taranaki on Sunday.

The 12-year-old was in fine form retiring after scoring 101 from 108 balls to ensure a Whanganui victory.

Whanganui set Taranaki a stern task scoring 203/9 and then bundled their rivals out in the 36th over for just 134 runs.

Godfrey hit nine fours and two sixes during his 126 minutes at the crease for an impressive average of 93.52. He then took a catch in the field to oust a Taranaki opener for just 22 runs.

The form he showed at Victoria Park in Stratford on Sunday came hot on the heels of his Most Valuable Player title he claimed at the NZ Post Cup tournament in Christchurch last week.

Godfrey was playing for Huntley School when he took the most wickets ever claimed in the tournament's history. Godfrey took 11 wickets and had the best figures of 4-2 off 3.4 overs in one match.

Huntley finished runners-up to Medbury School from Christchurch in a close match that could just as easily gone the other way but for several dropped catches.

Godfrey is in his second season with the Whanganui U13 X1 and has played in the Huntley School first X1 for three years.
