Born in Australia, Gould has travelled all over the world as a polo player.
As a third-generation competitor, which includes his brother Fergus who is also a professional, he has strong ties to the sport.
Gould's grandfather Ivor took up playing polo at 40 for Rangitikei Polo Club and both his sons, including Gould's father Ian, also played the game.
Gould's mother Fran was also with the Rangitikei club following her father Ray Hunt's footsteps.
She played internationally and later when the married Gould couple moved to Australia she became the horse groom for billionaire Kerry Packer.
Ian represented both New Zealand and Australia in polo as the couple came back often to stay with family at Waitohi while they purchased horses to sell overseas.
In 1994 the family moved back to a farm out of Marton and Gould, now 10, went to Marton Primary, briefly Marton Intermediate then Hunterville Primary.
He played rugby for the Marton club juniors and made the Rangitikei Under 45kg representative team.
Returning to Australia, Gould has represented his homeland in polo many times, including three World Cups.
The Royal Windsor Cup is the oldest competition to be played at Guards Polo Club.
It was held in the Club's inaugural year, 1955, and today it is regarded as the leading medium-goal tournament in the United Kingdom.
