It's been a long and at times frustrating speedway season.

But everyone involved with Supercheap Auto Oceanview Family Speedway is determined to end the season with a bang this weekend.

With four titles and four Memorial races to be decided over two meetings, there is going to be action aplenty at Oceanview.

Tonight, the West Coast Superstocks and West Coast Stockcar titles will be defended by Kerry Podjursky and Dion Mooney respectively.

While Podjursky has had an interrupted season due to engine issues, his Jaguar-powered tank is repaired and raring to go.

The 2016 Wanganui Warriors captain Bevan Humphrey has been missing this season due to farm commitments, but he has dusted off the Nissan-powered tri-rail to compete tonight.

An interesting addition to the field will be Max Holloway, a recent graduate from Youth Ministocks.

He will be at the wheel of Karl Holloway's car, and is a very promising young driver.
The three West Coast heats also double as Memorial races in memory of Noel Kensington, George Podjursky and Craig Heibner.

These races are always fiercely contested, with Kerry Podjursky especially keen to win the race in memory of his late father.

A large field of Stockcars will compete for the West Coast title.

Cars from Huntly, Palmerston North and Stratford are expected to battle the locals.

Mooney has been a class act in the Stockcar division this season, but there will be plenty of drivers trying to stop him going back-to-back.

The Ray Purdy Memorial for Production Saloons also features tonight.

John Caird has been an irregular attender this season, allowing Jason Pointon, Grant Little and Grant Loveridge to share the spoils.

This three-heat event will be wide open.

Then tomorrow, everyone will be back at Oceanview to hit the clay one last time for this season.

The feature event is the Charlie Berntsen Trophy for Stockcars, which will again attract a large field.

Berntsen was a hugely popular racer, who believed that entertaining the crowd was every bit as important as winning races.

That philosophy often comes into play at The Charlie meeting, and there is likely to be plenty of action, especially in the final heat.

The ever-popular Minisprints will also make an appearance for their West Coast title.
Current 1NZ Christian Hermansen has been the dominant driver in the class this season, and he has confirmed his attendance on Sunday.

Hermansen won the inaugural River City Shootout round of the Oval Superstars Tour in December, but he will face stiff competition from the likes of Shane Dewar and Whanganui-contracted Cameron Hurley.

Hurley's Hawera-based business Zodiac Signs is sponsoring the West Coast Minisprints.

There will also be a visit from the ever-popular Golden Oldies Stockcars - restored or replicas of the race cars of the 1970's-80's.

Youth and Adult Ministocks will be racing at both meetings, and the Sidecars will make their final appearance of the season on Saturday night.

And the season will conclude with Oceanview Family Speedway's annual Demolition Derby.

It's always a smashing way to close out the season, and there will be plenty of drivers looking to be the last man or woman standing as they push their cars to keep going.

Racing starts at 6pm on Saturday night, and 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
