Wanganui has a new football development officer dedicated solely to this area as Central Football look to have a key person in all five of their regions.
Matthew Kilsby will take on the new FDO position at the end of this month, with previous combined Manawatu/Wanganui FDO Scott Hales nowfocusing on Manawatu.
"We are delighted to have made an appointment of the calibre of Matt and are confident his skills and enthusiasm will be a major contributor in achieving the desired outcomes of this federation," said Central CEO John McGifford. "Whilst Scott Hales has done a fine job in delivering to both regions we see Matt's appointment as reinforcement of Central Football's desire to have a local presence.
"Scott will now return to concentrating on Manawatu and the immediately surrounding regions, but along with Taranaki FDO Mick Curry and now Matt will be able to cross pollinate in supporting each other across the West Coast of the federation's boundaries."
Kilsby was recently a development coach for Waikato/Bay of Plenty Football. He holds Senior Level 2 coaching accreditation and is part way through his Senior Level 3.
Waikato/Bay of Plenty CEO Cam Mitchell said they were sorry to see him go. "We are very pleased that an opportunity has arisen to enable him to further develop. He has done a fine job with the Waikato/Bay of Plenty federation and we know he will continue to do so with Central."
