After three straight events in the wet, the Wanganui 4WD club is hoping the throttle can really be opened when they host the Classic Hits / CowperTrucks National 4x4 Trial in the Turakina Valley tomorrow.
The third round of six in the national trials will be held at 457 WaimutuRd, with the 78 entries across four classes being one of the bigger turnouts in a while. Club president Grant Harrison hopes the fine weather would help the drivers turn it on.
"There will be plenty of action for sure.
"There's [still] mud there, but the last three trials we've run have been wet."
The vehicles will rotate around 32 hazards and obstacles, with four to six vehicles taking each one at a time.
Best of the locals to watch will be Hamish Auret in the super modified D-class.
Hamish Auret and Paul Barnes, in a 7-litre powered Chev, were second in their class and sit second overall after the last round near Te Puke in December.
There were 14 trucks from the Wanganui club competing at that event, while tomorrow a strong contingent from Taranaki will take part as well.
