Collegians finished off their regular Manawatu women's league season with a disappointing 4-0 loss to Massey on Wednesday afternoon.
The game was moved to midweek at the Gonville Domain because Collegians had several players in the Central Under-18 team going off to the regional tournament in Hamilton today.
Collegians coachJan Dixon said her side were doing well when they trailed Massey only 1-0 at halftime and had them on the back foot at times.
"Our usual goalie, Charlotte Dixon, got injured Wednesday morning at training, so Amelia Stanley played in goal for us.
"She saved some really good shots and would be player of the game," Dixon said.
Chloe Peters and Emma Rainey excelled on defence, while up front Kara Jurgens and Jessica Watkin combined well but just could not find the back of the net.
Collegians now have a two weekend break before their last two games on July 27 and August 3 for the Manawatu playoffs.
"Hopefully we can keep most of this team for next season, with it being such a young team next year, should be a good one," Dixon said.
