The Wanganui Golf Club has found its most accurate putters and those who are tops off the tee after completing the annual Putting and Closest to the Pin competitions.

Qualification for the closet to pin finals required members to land up to three balls within a circle of the chosen green at the Belmont Links.

On Saturday, the ultimate winner was Peter Wallis, followed by Robert Crawford and Caleb Tuck.

Wallis pocketed $1000, with $500 and $250 going to the runnersups respectively.

Other finalists were Glen Howells, Sera Raj, Bruce Harris, Tara Raj, and Andi Stadtmueller.

It was a rare occasion where one the club's youngest player in Sera Raj, 9, was in direct competition with one of the oldest in Harris, who is north of 80.

The separate Putting challenge finals were also held around the same time opposite the club's Pro shop and Crawford was the winner, with Stadtmueller second and Tara Raj third.

Prizes were a Waimarie cruise for four to Crawford, two golf lessons from Peter Cassidy for Stadmueller and a Caroline Boat Shed voucher for Raj.
