Solid results and high standards over the past year have propelled Wanganui Boys & Girls Gym Club athlete Jonathan Maples into the national limelight.
A member of the Wanganui club's men's artistic gymnastics competitive team, Maples has been selected to attend the 2013 National Training Clinic and ultimately gain selectioninto the National Development Squad.
Maples is the senior male athlete at the gym club and has just recently moved up to compete at Level 6 for the 2013 season. He has been invited to attend this training clinic based on his results and high standings from the last year.
This will be a chance for Maples to work through the new requirements, be assessed through the National Standards Physical Abilities Testing and for him to try out for the national squad for the upcoming year.
The training clinic will take place April 26-28 in Auckland.
This is the same weekend that the Women's Artistic Team will travel to Napier for the Central Region Training Clinic with guest coaches from around New Zealand.
The Wanganui club's trampoline team will travel to Gisborne for the North Island Championships. Head competitive coach Viv Hughan said this weekend would be a great kick start to the club's upcoming competition season.
