While both sides have no realistic chance of any league title this season, the aim must be for both to finish as high as possible in the standings.
Taradale currently hold a slender three-point advantage over their hosts, but City will be willing to put all on the line as they chase down their Hawke's Bay rivals for those higher league spots.
For their part, Taradale did enjoy their opening day visit to Wembley Park, winning 3-1, but stuttered at home when City ran out 4-3 winners.
Little separates the two sides. Although City did struggle with Taradale's direct play on that opening day, they have improved undoubtedly since and will look to tidy up that shortfall this time out.
With goals coming more regularly than the first few weeks for the hosts, this early afternoon promises another entertaining encounter.
Athletic away
Both of Wanganui's Western Premiership sides take a break from league action this weekend as they hit the road to Napier.
Wanganui Athletic firsts will take some encouraging form and confidence into their match up against Gisborne United in their second-round Federation Cup game at Park Island.
Athletic are coming off consecutive league wins and looking forward to taking on the side sitting in third spot in the Pacific Premiership.
The beauty being that with a result needed in Cup competition, the "never say die" attitude from the Athletic may well prove the difference, should things be tight towards the end of the game.
Wanganui City Reserves are also in the same competition and head to Marewa Park to take on Port Hills United FC.
Port Hills, funnily enough, enjoyed a good result against a Wanganui side 12 months ago in the same competition when they knocked Athletic out at this same stage.
City, who of late have been on the wrong side of score lines, will need to buck up their ideas if they hope to progress any further.
While availability of personnel has been an issue, with Reserve team players being called into action for their Federation side, the form of those remaining has been substandard, confirmed by recent results.
Athletic Women also fly the Wanganui flag on Sunday when they head to Hawera's Turuturu Park for the Women's Federation Cup quarter-final.
Confidence will not be an issue with the Athletic women, given their resounding 15-0 win last week in the Manawatu Cup and the fact they have yet to be beaten this season.
Although they may have not have met Hawera FC Women this season, there will be no reason for the Wanganui side not to progress.
The Taranaki side are struggling mid-table in a condensed league of their own which in reality, barring the top two sides, holds no comparison to the Athletic Women's league.
