The disappointing 4-2 loss after a slow start last Saturday against the PN Redsox will have to play on the minds of Wanganui City for at least another week.

City have drawn the bye in the Federation League this weekend.

Western Premiership action will also be void from Wembley Park, with both Wanganui Athletic 1sts and City Reserves on the road again today.

Athletic are over in Palmerston North looking to continue a recent resurgence in form and results when they take on PNBHS at Skoglund Park at 12.45pm.

They will be hoping to turn around a 4-0 deficit in the corresponding 1st round fixture against the young school-based side.

City Reserves head to Levin's Donnelly Park and will be mindful of their first round 4-2 loss against Levin AFC at Wembley Park earlier in the year.

It was a game which effectively took the wind out of the locals title chase.

Recent form doesn't favour the Wanganui side, but if they can eliminate their own errors they are capable of knocking over any side in the division.

The Manawatu Top Four division sees Athletic's women at Wembley Park on Sunday and the local lasses will have to be on the money when they host Massey Women's Reserves at 1.30pm.

Massey knocked over the North End Women last weekend, only the second team to do so after Athletic. Athletic are now the only unbeaten side in league play in that Manawatu competition.

It bodes well for a great game with the visitors full of confidence and the Wanganui side knowing they have beaten their opposition already this year, albeit in a close affair 3-2.

Saturday's action will welcome back all the junior grades after their holiday break and then local senior men and women games will take top billing with the major football teams travelling this afternoon.

Top Six men's action has been a close affair as all teams have just started their second rounds, and top billing on the number one pitch will be City Hammers hosting Marist Celtic.

As with all teams throughout these regarded divisions, there is little between the sides and any match in all the local competitions men and women will provide plenty of action and entertainment.
