After a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Federation League leaders PN Marist last weekend, Wanganui City will be looking to continue their recent positive run when they host Feilding United today.
The visitors, who have not beaten City in league play in recallable history, will be keen to pick up anypossible points in a season which once again sees them holding the bottom slot in the standings. City will know that if they are complacent, especially coming off that good win last week, they will fall to a Feilding side with a dogged, never-say-die attitude.
Feilding have been a stumbling block for many a team who have taken the Manawatu side lightly.
With the hosts now looking more settled, coach James Oxtoby will be pleased with the way the side have improved and some of the more experienced players are coming back into decent form.
Jordan Joblin-Hall has been there or thereabouts recently in the scorers charts while Zane Robinson has been showing his maturity and understanding in leading by example.
Adding to the fact the youngsters in the team are now feeling comfortable, Oxtoby and manager Glenn Graham will be looking forward to this afternoon for their 2.30pm kick off.
After last weekend, when both Wanganui teams were at home in the Western Premiership, Wembley Park will be void of action in this division.
Both Wanganui Athletic 1sts and Wanganui City Reserves hit the road to Palmerston North.
Athletic have an early kick off of 12.45pm when they look to turn around their first-round result against PN Marist Reserves at Skoglund Park, while City will be hoping the school holidays don't have any effect on their match-up with the secondary school-based PNBHS in a later 2.45pm fixture.
Consistency now needs to be the key in the results column heading into these latter parts of the season.
