Wanganui's Anne Anderson (above) delivers the kitty to start her first pairs game at the women's masters regional tournament at the Aramoho Bowling Club yesterday morning.
The two-day hexagonal tournament features representative teams from Wanganui, Wairarapa, Kapiti Coast, Manawatu, Wellington and Hutt Valley.
The 60 players will contest singles, pairs, triples and fours over five rounds.
Wanganui are the defending champions, having claimed the title in the 2011-12 season and ending Wellington's domination of the Bernice Stone Trophy, which went back to the 2000-2001 summer. Last year's event was rained out.
After two rounds yesterday, Hutt Valley led with 12 points, followed by Kapiti Coast with 10, while Wanganui were back in a three-team tie on eight points.
