Mud, glorious mud, and Sport Wanganui would like us all to be knee deep in it.
Registrations are open for the McDonald's Mud Muster a fun "mud run" being held at the Rangitikei Farmstay on the Tyrone Farm in the Turakina Valley in October.
Competitors can enter either a 5kmor 10km course, which will take them over, around and, most importantly, through rolling hills, ponds, streams, logs, mud and more.
In addition to the beast of Mother Nature, there will be man-made obstacles in place for participants, who can expect anything that will have them climbing, crawling or pushing through.
The event is being run by Sport Wanganui in partnership with Rangitikei Farmstay, owned by Kylie and Andrew Stewart. The property has been in the Stewart family for 110 years. McDonald's Wanganui is naming sponsor.
Sport Wanganui said it was hoping for about 500 entries, although there would be room for plenty more.
"The course is designed for youth and adults, and will provide a great opportunity for fun, laughter, team bonding, confidence building, mental and physical achievement. All participants will have their run time recorded via an electronic timing system." There would be prizes for the top three in each category.
Entry is $35 for adults and $20 for students. It is open to all adults, and secondary students aged 12 and up.
