Challenge trial for NZ teams

Wanganui Target Shooting (TSW) will be hosting over 100 shooters and managers this month for the North v South smallbore target shooting challenge to select a team to meet England.

The challenge will be held from August 14-16 at the Okoia range, with the New Zealand team to compete on Sunday, August 16, being chosen from the North v South matches in the Open, Women, Junior and Veteran categories.

Three TSW-affiliated shooters have been chosen for the North Island team.

The RSA club's Graeme and Raewyn Simpson will be in the veterans team. It is the first time Graeme has been selected and the second time for Raewyn as a veteran and her 21st selection overall in national teams.

Gary Cuff, from the Marton club, will also be in the veterans team for the second time.

Friday, August 14, will be a practice evening at the Okoia range, followed by the official welcoming supper.

The Saturday will be spent shooting from 7.30am to 6.30pm, using New Zealand targets.

Sunday's match against England will use English targets, with those not selected for the New Zealand team having a derby match.

A dinner with team photographs and presentations will be held that night at Wanganui Racecourse.
