Live it, breathe it, feel it was the message star basketballer Paoro Winitana delivered to the seniors during yesterday's training camp at Springvale Stadium in Wanganui.
The former Tall Black, Olympian, NBL champion and Breakers star Winitana and current Hawke's Bay Jets guard Tia Temata-Frost completed the final session with13 to 18-year-olds yesterday after hosting the juniors (5-13) on Tuesday.
The two-day training camp, organised by the Whanganui HoopClub with assistance from Basketball New Zealand, made a welcome return to the River City after a 10-year break.
Winitana, a highly-respected player who achieved many successes at the highest level - nationally and internationally over nearly two decades, put the seniors through a series of practical drills, but the vocal message he delivered appeared to be far more valuable.
"It's all about rhythm, timing, touch, footwork - it's just like dancing, feel it," Winitana said.
HoopClub coach Paul Berridge said the training camp was the start of bigger and better things to come.
"The feedback from the kids and many of the parents has been great," Berridge said."That has encouraged us even more to host bigger and better events in the future."
