The Kaierau Netball Club have gone back to the future by appointing one of their former players as premier coach for the Wanganui Car Centre A1 squad in the coming season.
Marama Cameron takes over from Marie Kinloch, having spent the last two years guiding the Nga Tawa A1 team.
Nga Tawa nearly upset defending champions Kaierau in the Wanganui premier netball championship semifinals in August, leading for all but the final six minutes before losing 36-33.
Kaierau went on to lose to Phillips Electrical Wanganui High School A1 in the final, while Nga Tawa beat East Club Sportsedge A1 in the play-off for third.
Cameron returns to the fold having coached them in a strong 2011 season and played for the club for three years, including as captain.
Also making a return is Kate Ritani, who coached the team in 2012, and will be back on board as manager.
"Together they will bring experience and knowledge that we know will help develop and excel our players through the upcoming competition," said Kaierau president Kristen Ashworth.
"We have the majority of last year's team returning this season and also have interest from returning and new club members, which will prove Kaierau a strong side in the premier competition again this year."
