The Butters family picked up another couple of titles at the weekend as younger sister Paris stood alongside world-ranked brother Kyle at the senior open singles championships.
The teenaged siblings took out the Wanganui Tennis Club's women's and men's titles respectively at the Bassett St courts, claiming each of theirtournament matches in straight sets.
While Kyle Butters had been expected to dominate the men's draw, it was Paris who confirmed her improvement this summer by winning through as the No2 seed.
Club captain Lynn Dent said many of the matches were closer than the set scores suggested.
She was pleased several of the younger unseeded players in the men's draw had played well, especially as several of them played an extra game to play those ranked in the top eight.
To take out the S Powdrell Cup, Paris Butters engaged in a family battle to see off Tara Butters in the semifinals 6-4 6-1, pulling away from her mother after they were locked 4-4 in the second set.
No1 seed and defending champion Helen Russel beat unseeded Kate Davey, who had pulled off the only upset of the draw, 6-1 7-5 in the other semifinal.
After a hot Saturday the players returned to wet weather conditions on Sunday morning, but Paris Butters had no problems with the adjustment, beating Russel to claim the women's crown 6-3 6-1.
As expected, Kyle Butters waltzed through to claim the NR Bain Challenge Cup in comfortable fashion.
All the seeds made the quarter-finals on Saturday, with the semis and final played in the Sunday wet.
Kyle Butters beat Doug Ireton 6-1 6-2, while No2 seed Patrice Mathey continued his good weekend form against No3 seed Ivan Southon, winning 6-2 6-2.
But the final was a different proposition for Mathey who went down 6-1 6-0 to Kyle Butters.
In the B grade finals, Amy Musson beat Lynn Campbell 7-6 6-4 in the women's draw, while on the men's side Bradley Wallis held off Albert Menihere 5-7 6-0 10-2.
