This evening's open class Hatrick greyhound feature is the Race 10, Wanganui Chronicle 520m event.

Expected to be prominent in the race are two greyhounds who are just C4 graded (one class below open class).

Cawbourne Brick lost his open class status owing to a run of unsuitable recent wide draws.

This noted railer will enjoy drawing closer to the rail here (trap three) and a quick return to form can be expected by this strong finishing Matt Roberts-trained chaser.

Paul Dozer has yet to attain his open class chasing stripes, although he is currently racing as if he belongs in the top grade for his trainer Angela Turnwald.

His recent bold second placing in the Group 1 Auckland Cup certainly confirms those thoughts.

The three open class assessed greyhounds in the field is provided from the kennels of the tear away national Trainers' Premiership leader Lisa Cole.

The concern for both Mark's Boy and Timma Turtle is the pair of them drawing the widest two traps, meaning both have to come away from the outside traps real smartly.

Kennelmate Absinthe Minded is resuming after his bold last start 645m third five weeks ago. He has drawn poorly in the five trap.

An interesting acceptor here is Nitehawk Rose who is prepared by club president Bill Hodgson.

She is facing her toughest career assignment after winning an intermediate grade 520m last Friday. She has drawn kindly in trap two.

While the 520m event is a rather even looking affair the Race 5 open class 305m sprint has a standout prospect lining up.

Cole has the current Hatrick 305m track record holder Allegro Gun absolutely flying at the moment.

Being provided with the ace trap to step away from here has strongly enhanced his winning claims, especially as the greyhound drawn on his immediate outer, King's Call is likely to move out wider during the early rush for positions.

Place prospects here includes a trio of his kennelmates - Allegro Lass, Bear Inda Square and Bigtime Thinker.

There will be a twelve race card contested at Hatrick on Monday afternoon, with the Wanganui club swapping next Friday's meeting with the Manawatu club where they will host a big ticket meeting as part of a tri-code weekend of Gold Cup racing in Palmerston North.
