Plenty of outstanding action will be found at Wembley Park today for the pundits if they can get out of the way of the treacherous weather bomb and find shelter to support their teams in all of the travelling leagues.

Action starts early with a Western Premiership derby, with an early kick off of 12.30pm, between Wanganui Athletic 1sts and Wanganui City Reserves on Ground 2.

Both sides are experiencing different fortunes this season. Athletic are struggling to find any luck, with their young side heading into the match as underdogs and sitting at the foot of the table.

But no better reason than to turn over their City rivals, who are hunting for a top finish this season after suffering from inconsistent results last year.

In the earlier fixture between the two sides, the 2-0 win to City's Reserves was hard won and not until late in the match were the points safe, which would suggest this afternoon will be no different with the Reds looking forward to turning the tables on their neighbours .

The later fixture for the day will see Team Taranaki come to town to take on Wanganui City in the Federation League.

With plenty on in the 'Naki over the weekend, namely a test match from the oval ball code, the visitors asked for and were granted an earlier kick off time of 2pm.

These two sides promise entertainment for any hardy souls, as recent results between the two have almost always been settled by the odd goal in pulsating high scoring affairs.

However, their first round encounter at New Plymouth this year was an exception, with today's visitors triumphing 2-1.

It was the first win for the Taranaki rep side for a few seasons, with City always showing plenty of passion to come from behind in thrillers both times last year and then again in 2011.

For the locals, unavailability is a big issue today with midfielder Troy Smith injured, defender Shaan Stuart away dealing with visa issues for a later United States trip and stand-in goalkeeper Jack Judd-Nuttall on a school trip as a supervisor.

That means the opportunity will arise for more youngsters to get their chance again with squad players and reserve team members on call for late afternoon duty.

It may be a case, given the rough weather, that whichever side handles the conditions better is likely to come out on top.

City will be ruing their bye last weekend as they were gaining great form and confidence.

After rolling title chasers Redsox last time out at Wembley, the enforced break could break the rhythm.
