But the one he couldn't beat was Beamish, a North Island and national under-18 champion during the athletics season in events like the 2000m steeplechase and the 3000m.
The Wanganui Chronicle was hoping to get hold of Beamish at his Collegiate house yesterday afternoon, only to find out the young man had gone out for a jog.
About 1600 runners and walkers of all shapes and sizes took part in the fun run this year.
