The apprentice saw off the master during the feature race of the Property Brokers 36th annual Round the Bridges Fun Run yesterday morning.
Starting at 9.45am, the 10km running race went up and down Town Bridge, before heading out to Cobham and back to Dublin Bridge at the other endbefore reaching the finish at Kowhai Park.
Wanganui Collegiate's Geordie Beamish made his Harvey house proud by being the first one home.
Following him was Wanganui Collegiate's own Head of Sport, Tom Osborne, who was completing his final act in that role. Moving on after three years, Osborne is today starting his new position as the Wanganui manager of Tranzit Coachlines.
"A sad day, but it was good to come out with the kids and run with them," Osborne said.
"And beating them is even better," he said at the prizegiving yesterday.
But the one he couldn't beat was Beamish, a North Island and national under-18 champion during the athletics season in events like the 2000m steeplechase and the 3000m.
The Wanganui Chronicle was hoping to get hold of Beamish at his Collegiate house yesterday afternoon, only to find out the young man had gone out for a jog.
