The accolades keep coming for the Marangai Archers Club as founder and national champion Rob McMillan went with husband and wife competitors Gustav and Hanlie Bam to the North Island Championships at the weekend.

Competing in very windy and muddy conditions at Lower Hutt's Randwick Archery Club, McMillan won his 18th Master Grade North Island title with 1930 points.

However, Gustva Bam was able to head him off in the Match Play competition, taking the gold with McMillan getting silver.

Bam was first in the Men's Senior Division with 1897 points, while also finishing second overall of all men's competitors.

Hanlie Bam was defending champion in the Woman's Compound Target Division, and finished second with 1867 points, before seeing off New Plymouth's Barbara Scott to win the Match Play gold medal.
