The Wanganui rowing community will be hoping for the weather gods to be kind tomorrow as they look to continue to increase the popularity of the Winter Series.
The May and June editions of the series drew a strong number of 25 and 28 entries respectively, including competitors from Poriruaand Horowhenua as well as the local schools and clubs.
However, it may prove hard to keep up that momentum as the school holidays have started and the Metservice forecast is for showers with a strong cold southerly, rising to gale.
Tomorrow is the turn of the Aramoho Wanganui Club, whose pair Trevor Rush and Richard Brock finished second at the June edition of the series.
The series involves many different classes and age groups of not only rowers but also waka competitors.
The best is decided by "prognostic time" - which involves taking the distance each class will race, then calculating the time they would be expected to reach if racing at international level. Starting at 9am, racing begins at the 2km finish line at Aramoho and moves on to completion outside the National Library Building.
