Aramoho Bowling Club's Premier A team is right in the hunt for another national club title after winning the Zone 4 playoffs in New Plymouth at the weekend.

The seven-man team were successful against club teams from Victoria (Wellington), Alton (Taranaki), Raumati South and Kapiti Coast.

Selector and manager Don Williams said the competition was effectively over after Aramoho won six games in a row to shut out their rivals.

The team is: Sean Johnson (singles), Peter Belliss and Kevin Coombe (pairs), Keith Slight, Dave Anderson, Kevin La Roche and Gavin Scrivener (fours).

Aramoho has won two previous national club titles the first in 1992 followed by another in 2003. The nucleus of the team is the same from 2003 with the exception of Belliss, who has returned from Australia.

Belliss, who earlier this year was named an assistant coach of the New Zealand team, was a member of the 1992 Aramoho team.

Scrivener is a newcomer to the squad while Slight is the only member to have been in both national title winning teams.

The national finals will be held at the Northern Bowling Club in Palmerston North on March 23-24.

"If the team plays to its potential there is no reason a third title isn't a possibility," said Williams.

"The competition however will be very strong and the team will have to be at their best to be successful."
