Young golfing sensation Amber-Rose Thompson-Newth will be shooting for her third straight Wanganui Golf Club senior women's title this weekend at Belmont.
On Sunday she again faces off against the vastly experienced Caroline Scott, a 15-time club champion, who until Thompson-Newth wrested the title from her in 2011, had a
10-year consecutive winning stretch.
As a 17-year-old last year Thompson-Newth beat Scott by winning 2-up on the 35th hole, cementing her place as the heir apparent to the veteran.
Both golfers are in fine fettle and showing solid form to earn their places in the championship final, which is certain to be a cliffhanger.
The men's senior final is set to be equally tight with Manawatu Wanganui pennants team mates Glen Neal and Mike Arnott battling it out. Both were members of the B-grade pennants team recently promoted to A-grade.
