Around 100 artistic skaters from clubs across the lower North Island will be looking to make a trip to Wanganui the first of a double act when they compete in the Central Area championships this week-end.
The events which will include the likes of free, solo, dance and precision skating
will see the competitors at Jubilee Stadium trying to qualify for the nationals, which will also be held in Wanganui, running from October 1-6.
There will be around 50 entrants from the Upper Hutt club taking part.
Events start at 2pm today with figure skating, followed by solo dance.
It continues tomorrow, starting at 8am.
