Another sticker has gone up on the Rangatira Golf Club honour board emblazoned with the name John Bismark.

The 74-year-old, from Hunterville, sunk his ball in one shot at the fourth hole on Saturday during the club's Medal competition.

Playing in a group of four, the 74-year-old will "always try" for those ever elusive holes in one and on Saturday, with his six iron at the Par 3 hole he hit the magic shot.

"I hit the green, it was a proper golf shot, it ran about six feet and went in the hole."

It was Bismark's second hole-in-one at the course, having had the perfect swing on the 8th hole 11 years ago.

He started playing golf at age 50, having never had a lesson before that.

Bismark's name goes up on the honour board again with a temporary sticker, which will be replaced with a permanent record the next time it is updated.

But there's no other perks at the bar, in fact quite the opposite for the traditional post-round celebration. "It cost me $110, I reckon they should shout you but that not the rule here you face up and pay up."
