A woman charged with murdering a 14-year-old girl on Friday night wailed as she was walked out of a Whanganui court room this afternoon.
The woman was granted interim name suppression by Judge Philip Crayton, who remanded her in custody without plea.
The Judge also ordered that a section 38
report be carried out on the defendant to determine the status of her fitness and sanity at the request of duty solicitor Ollie Crosse.
"It's going to be alright. I love you," a man shouted from a full public gallery as the accused stood in the dock with tears streaming down her face.
At about 8.20pm on Friday night Whanganui Police responded to a call from someone saying that they had harmed a family member.
