A MAN escaped serious injury after being attacked by a number of people at a Wanganui bar on Wednesday night.
Wanganui police detective Luke Cameron of CIB said the victim had just won a large amount of money from a gaming machine when he was attacked in the toilet area of
Moda Bar in Victoria Ave about 11.30pm.
Cash and personal property were taken from the victim during the attack.
Mr Cameron would not say how much money or what property was stolen.
The victim had a medical examination after the attack but was not hospitalised.
Although a 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, other people are being sought by police.
"We've got an open mind about how many people are involved," Mr Cameron said.
The man appeared in the Wanganui District Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody.
Investigators are analysing surveillance camera footage to identify other persons of interest.
Police would like to speak to patrons of the Buzz Bar or upstairs Moda Bar who were there on Wednesday evening or the early hours of Thursday morning, Mr Cameron said.
