The time has come when Whanganui artists will once again open their doors and invite the world in. Whanganui Artists Open Studios begins on Friday with the opening of the Starting Point exhibition at Wanganui Arts Centre on Taupo Quay. Originally an event for riverside studios, their idea has now blossomed into a large-scale Whanganui regional event encompassing over 70 studios and 200 artists' work.

THURSDAY

River City Artists
From beginners to established artists.
When: 9.30am-4pm
Where: Christ Church Community Hall, 243 Wicksteed St

Kowhai Park Runs
When: From 5.30pm.
Where: Kowhai Park, Anzac Parade.
Details: Six-week series. Pay at event.

Meditation
When: 6pm-7.30pm
Where: Whanganui Community Arts Centre, 19 Taupo Quay
Details: Drop-in classes from Gen Demo from Amitabha Buddhist Centre. Suggested donation $12.

Rakaunui Market
When: 5pm to 9pm
Where: Pakaitore
Details: Held every full moon for sharing, sustainability and improving the wellbeing of all who take part. Bring your own cutlery and plate for food.

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
When: 6.30pm.
Where: Confluence, 15 Watt St
Details: In support of multicultural March, Confluence will be screening the documentary film Human Flow. Filmed over an extended period of time in 23 countries.
Entry $10 at the door or book at confluence.kiwi. Booking strongly advised.

Sonic Delusion

Starting Point

Details: Whanganui Artists Open Studios opening event. A chance to sample the delights on offer, pick up a guide and plan your personal arts trails.

Public meeting - the Future of our Polytechs
