Far from going to the dogs, this year's Hunterville Huntaway Festival went to the kids.
Festival secretary Shona Jones said this year's "Children's Shemozzle" a cross-country obstacle event based on the adult Shepherd's Shemozzle, in which shepherds and their dogs complete an endurance and obstacle course had a record-breaking 150children take part, and they had to turn away some entrants.
In the end it was Huntley School's Hunter Werthmuller who led the pack, closely followed by two schoolmates, earning their school the Interschool Challenge Cup.
Mrs Jones estimated that around 3000 people visited the annual festival over the day of events, with each event hugely popular in its own right.
One of the main attractions is the Shepherd's Shemozzle, a 3km obstacle course which tests the relationship and between shepherd and dog and their ability to follow instructions.
Among the obstacles was the yearly "food stop", which this year consisted of raw egg and a bottle of cream, which had to be consumed if not by the shepherd, then by their dog.
First home in the shemozzle was Sam Duncan and his dog Bell, and first female home was Jamie Howie and Phlex both holding on to the same titles they gained last year.
Other events on the day included a shearing challenge, barking competition and Miss Huntaway the search for the fairest huntaway dog.
