Sunshine is expected through much of this weekend in Whanganui with some potential cloud and sprinkles in the mornings.

Metservice meteorologist Devlin Lyndon said it will be an overall pleasant and settled weekend.

“It’s looking pretty typical, I suppose, pretty mundane,” he said.

“Generally speaking over the next few days, Friday to Saturday, Sunday, we’ve got a ridge over much of the North Island.

“It’s a bit messy, there’s some cloud about, but for the Whanganui area it will be really pretty fine.”

There is a chance of some showers early on Friday morning and again on Saturday morning.

“Generally speaking, it will be fine spells and clear skies,” Lyndon said.

Inland areas may see some more cloud cover due to westerly and southwesterly wind flows which will persist through the weekend.

The daytime highs are projected to be 26C on Friday, 24C on Saturday, and 23C on Sunday.

Overnight lows are expected to be 14C on Friday, 12C on Saturday and 14C on Sunday.

Westerly and southwesterly winds will be light overall throughout the weekend.

“The general trend will be for stronger winds in the afternoons for each of three days,” Lyndon said.

“Perhaps some gusty conditions for Sunday afternoon.”
