Whanganui preschoolers and seniors get financial help from Bank of New Zealand staff

Marie McFarland Kindergarten pupils learn about making good choices with the help of BNZ staff and the Penny the Penguin app.

Children at Whanganui's Marie McFarland Kindergarten, as well as teenagers and seniors, have improved their financial know-how, thanks to Bank of Zealand staff.

The bank held its annual Closed for Good volunteering day throughout New Zealand on Wednesdayand this year focused on interactive tools for people in preschools, high schools and retirement villages.

In Whanganui, bank staff visited Marie McFarland Kindergarten, Aramoho Kindergarten, Jane Winstone Retirement Village and Kowhainui Home.

The Scam Savvy programme for seniors was aimed at spotting and avoiding scams and they also received advice to help them be more confident with online banking.

An interactive digital storybook, Penny the Penguin, has been developed to help preschoolers understand the importance of making good choices.

Teenagers were introduced to the My Moni app to help them navigate through financial decisions, such as buying their first car.
