A person has been arrested and charged in relation to the alleged aggravated robbery of a Whanganui liquor store in Whanganui.

The robbery took place at the Bottle-O liquor store on Polson St, Castlecliff, on March 4. Police responded about 6.10pm.

The offenders allegedly entered the premises and stole a number of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol, before fleeing on a quad bike.

Whanganui police detective Rebecca Taylor said one youth was arrested in relation to the incident on Thursday and was due in Whanganui Youth Court, charged with aggravated robbery.

Police are not ruling out further arrests or charges and inquiries are ongoing.
