U-Skills prizegiving The Central Baptist church will host UCOL Whanganui's U-Skills Academy prizegiving on Wednesday October 24. Year 11 to 13 students from around Whanganui will be recognised for their achievements at the event on Wicksteed St. It begins at 5pm.
Coast at Green Drinks It's all about the coast at Whanganui'smonthly Green Drinks on October 9. Lyneke Onderwater from the Coastal Restoration Trust will be talking about restoration, climate change and other seaside issues. Take the tour New members are welcome to the Whanganui Regional Heritage Trust's tour of the historic Wairoma house in Marton on Sunday. Community work Nikita Winiata was sentenced to 50 hours' community work by Judge Christopher Field in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday. Winiata was convicted on charges of careless driving, driving with excess breath alcohol and being an unlicensed driver that failed to comply with prohibition.
Police assaulted Margaret Dawn Field-Teki pleaded guilty to assaulting police, common assault and disorderly behaviour in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday. She will appear in the court again on November 13 for sentencing.
Partner assaulted A man that was sentenced to 12 months' supervision and 80 hours' community work in early September for assaulting his partner has been sentenced for further offending. Robert Kells Meyer pleaded guilty to one charge of contravening a protection order in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday. Judge Christopher Field sentenced Meyer to 40 hours' community work, cumulative on the 80 hours he already had.
