Vehicles and people of all ages took to the Whanganui streets for the Daffodil Rally for Cancer, organised by the Wanganui Vintage Car Club.

Organiser Peter Hardy said the rally, held on Sunday, August 26, was a great success, with 134 vehicles and about 500 people involved.

The rally was a "scatter run" event in which participants received a map with 30 locations pinpointed on it, accompanied by quiz questions relating to each site. The questions had different points allocated to them, meaning participants need to work out the best route to amass the most points within the 90-minute event.

The event was not limited to club members and vehicles of any type and age were welcome.

It is the second year the club has run a Daffodil Rally, with last year's event attracting 94 vehicles and raising more than $1100 for the Wanganui Cancer Society. All funds raised will stay in Whanganui.
