Reg Skipworth NZ First's Whanganui candidate

Reg Skipworth NZ First's Whanganui candidate

Whanganui election candidate Reg Skipworth is both surprised and delighted to find himself at number 36 on the New Zealand First list.

Mr Skipworth, who works at BP Connect in London Street and is a union delegate, lines up behind leader Winston Peters, Ron Mark, Tracey Martin,Shane Jones and others.

"I'm not a doctor or a lawyer or a professional businessman, so I'm very pleased to be listed at 36," he said of a placing that is highly unlikely to see him heading to Parliament.

Mr Skipworth has been a party member for almost three years and is NZ First's Whanganui electorate chairman.

Meanwhile, Maori Party candidate for Te Tai Hauauru, Howie Tamati, has been ranked number 6 on the party list released last week.

The position is unlikely to get the first-time candidate in as a list MP on current polling meaning he will be relying on winning the seat from incumbent Labour MP Adrian Rurawhe.
