The #BoostYourTown workshop will help businesses promote themselves and their town.

The #BoostYourTown workshop will help businesses promote themselves and their town.

A digital skills workshop is coming to Whanganui to help businesses with their online presence.

#BoostYourTown is a free workshop put together by online digital skills platform About Us and Facebook, and is being presented in 13 towns around New Zealand. Whanganui Chamber of Commerce is liaising with About Us and Facebook to bring the workshop to town.

"Whanganui was one of the first towns identified for the workshop through the other digital work we've been doing over the years," chamber chief executive Marianne Archibald said.

"With the changes to Facebook and Instagram there's a real opportunity for businesses to get online and get more business."

Participants need to bring their own device to the workshop and will learn the basics of getting their business on Facebook and Instagram, how to create content and find out how advertisements and analytics work.

The workshop is a Whanganui Chamber of Commerce BA4 (Business After 4) event. It will be at 4pm-6pm on Thursday, June 28, at Hive & Co. Bookings are essential. Register at www.eventbrite.co.nz
