We are sailing...

A Scouts jamboree the size of a small town descended on Lake Wiritoa yesterday. The jamboree is being held in Feilding and involves more than 4000 people, jamboree operational services director David Thorpe said.
About 200 Scouts would sail and kayak at Lake Wiritoa each day this week. Pictured sailing yesterday are (from left) Ryan Dickins, 12, Eastern Manawatu, Johnson Goodlet,14, Papakura district and Angus Kerr,11, also from Papakura.
Mr Thorpe said the jamboree was going remarkably well.
It was estimated that, during the nine days the Scouts were in the jamboree tent town, they would consume 16,240 sausages, 7000 loaves of bread, 9000 hamburger patties and 4500 cheesecakes.
