The Waimarie Centre is looking for someone to depict the riverboat in cartoon.
Centre promotions officer Nicki Higgie said "our beloved Waimarie usually puts her feet up on Mondays. There will be a couple of exceptions in the next few weeks, she'llbe cruising on Easter Monday and then on Anzac Day Monday afternoon, but having cruised six days a week through the summer, the Waimarie definitely deserves some days off."
And that time off is the subject of a cartoon competition.
"Try to think in pictures of the Waimarie relaxing," Mrs Higgie said.
"Could she put her feet up? Might she go to the beach with a good book? Would she indulge with grapes and a fruit punch? What do you think?
"The Waimarie team is keen to see ideas on this, in cartoon form."
The creator of the winning cartoon will get free tickets for a cruise on the Waimarie, to the value of $90, for either two adults or a family pass (two adults and up to three children). They are valid for 12 months.
For those who can see the funny side of the paddle steamer, bring or send in entries to Marion Johnston, Waimarie Centre, 1a Taupo Quay, Whanganui 4500.
The centre would have the right to use the cartoons for general and marketing purposes of the Waimarie.
Deadline for entries is April 5 and the winner will be announced the following week.
