Zonta's 16-day global campaign against violence begins today, and yesterday Zonta Wanganui joined with Women's Refuge to walk around the bridges to halt the violence against women and girls.
Pictured above are Zonta Wanganui president Philippa Nixon (left) and community probation's Nicola McElwain leading the group.
One placard said "familyviolence costs $8 billion". A gold coin donation to join the walk went to Women's Refuge.
Zonta clubs in 66 countries were joining the 16-day campaign, and the group also supported the White Ribbon anti-violence campaign, Mrs Nixon said. Zonta Wanganui is now in its 33rd year.
