Greyhounds who are one win away from attaining open class status contest this evening's main Hatrick 520m event (Race 10).

The powerful Lisa Cole kennels provides five of the runners although it is Arden Emgrand from the Angela Turnwald kennels who looms as the greyhound to beat.

He has drawn nicely in trap two and he brings solid recent second placings behind a smart type into this race.

Bigtime Liam and Bigtime Forest are the leading Cole contenders, while their kennelmate Ask King Jeff is likely to finish strongly.

The Turnwald-prepared Mila Mila is benefiting from an easing in class.

The open class sprinters have an early outing as they'll contest their 305m dash in Race 2.

The gun Cole trained, Allegro Gun, secures the draw advantage via the ace trap.

Overlook his Monday Manawatu 375m miss as this winner of $114,843 is poised to claim his 43rd career win this sprint.

Kennelmate Bigtime Crackem can overcome his poor trap five draw, while Bigtime Jane resumes from a spell.

She can deliver a bold fresh-up sprint here.

Matt Roberts returns Rain And Tears to race here, following her recent Addington 295m misses.

She will enjoy hopping away from trap two.

The stake earning claims held by the Marcie Flipp-trained Idol Hot cannot be lightly dismissed.

Group 2 racing features at the Manawatu Raceway on Tuesday afternoon, where the $15,825 Kamada Park North Island Challenge Stakes (Race 12) will be decided.

Cole-prepared greyhounds dominated the two 457m heats held last Monday.

Amazingly she qualified nine of the ten listed finalists.

There was just a whisker separating the times of both heat winners for Cole, as Bigtime Paddy returned 25.95s while Bigtime Vanessa clocked 25.96s.

This pair of previous Group race winning greyhounds bookend the field with Bigtime Paddy jumping from the eight trap, while Bigtime Vanessa will be loaded away into trap one.

Ridin' Shotgun has every right to fell intimated, given the Karen Walsh-prepared chaser is the only non-Cole trained greyhound in the field.

To further rub salt into it, her charge has been allocated the tricky five trap draw for the event.

Two heats over the demanding Manukau 779m distance on Sunday will decide the finalists for the prestigious $88,000 Duke Of Edinburgh Silver Collar.

Cole will be seeking to qualify the exciting Don't Knocka Gee, plus her recent Wanganui distance finalist Bigtime Welldone.

Turnwald is returning with her finalist from last year Tranquil Blossom, along with the stylish recent Hatrick 645m winner Argus Filch.
