Whanganui police are investigating after receiving several reports of truck tyres being rolled from the hill near Victoria Park
Craig Cawley was on the phone with police when he saw a tyre come rolling down a hill, across the road, smashing through his neighbour's fence and into her house.
It was not the first tyre he had seen rolling down the bank near Victoria Park as just moments earlierhe witnessed one narrowly miss a vehicle travelling on Parsons Street.
Whanganui police are investigating several reports of truck tyres being rolled from the hill near Victoria Park towards Parsons St threatening vehicles and property.
Another traveller was not so lucky, with police confirming that they received a report from a driver at 8pm on Tuesday whose vehicle was hit by a stray tyre.
A caller to the Chronicle, who declined to be named, said somebody could be killed.
Police have received three reports of tyre-related incidents occuring on Parsons Street, but when they attended the scene on Wednesday night, no suspects were located.
Cawley said the tyres had been taken from a makeshift bike track near the cricket pavilion and described the actions as "bloody dangerous".
"My neighbour's a little old lady, she would be in her 70's. These are big tyres, I could hardly lift them up," he said.
"My car gets parked on the lawn, if they'd been rolled further up, they could have taken it out."
Numerous black pickets have been taken out by the tyres and Cawley was forced to use them to prop the fence up for the time being as it can no longer stand on its own.
Over five car and truck tyres have been left strewn across the property, including in the berm out the front. .

Cawley first noticed what was happening on Tuesday.
"I went out at seven o'clock and I could drive out of my drive," Cawley said.
"I came back at 20 past seven and I couldn't get back in because the fence was lying on the drive and there was a tyre in the middle of it."
Police continue to investigate the matter.
Update: After publishing this story on Thursday afternoon Whanganui District Council staff were onsite removing the remaining tyres from the bike track.
