The Man Challenge at Cooks Gardens marks the last event of Men's Health Challenge

Men's Health Month has come to an end but the Man Challenge down at Cooks Gardens on Friday afternoon was one to remember.

Over the month of June Tane Hauora Collaborative group has put together a 30-day calendar full of events to help men talk about "what matters to them".

On Friday 20 teams of four competed in 10 diverse activities that tested their mental and physical strength.

From a haka challenge to naming body parts to even making the best smoothies it was all go.

Team leader for Healthy Families Whanganui Rangitīkei Ruapehu, Debbie-Jane Viliamu, said they had a really good turn out and all teams gave it their all.

"It has been really good to see leadership of the mayor Hamish, kaupapa and local community leaders taking part."

Councillor Josh Chandulal-Mackay was one of the four from the council team.

Mr Chandulal-Mackay said it had been gruelling but their team had managed to stay in the game.

"The police team have given us a run for our money in the quiz but I think we've got it in the bag."
