Emergency services sweep debris from the road.

Traffic was delayed briefly this evening following a two car collision at a major Whanganui intersection.

The vehicles collided about 7.30pm at the Glasgow St and Victoria Ave intersection, opposite Countdown and Pak'nSave supermarkets.

There were no immediate reports of serious injuries.

The airbag on one vehicle had deployed on the driver's side.

Damage to the front of the vehicle was extensive and the vehicle required some maneuvering to hoist onto a tow truck.

Glass and other debris was swept from the road while two firefighters controlled traffic at the intersection.

Several people sat nearby, some looking visibly upset, as they retrieved personal items from one of the vehicles.
