"Even men who don't cook leave the function room full of ideas on how to liven up their next 'happening' at their place. It's a terrific night - laughter and good tips, great community spirit, helping a great cause and everyone leaving feeling better than when they arrived," Ms White said.
The event will raise much-needed money for Alzheimers Wanganui, which provides support services to make life better for all people affected by dementia in Wanganui, Rangitikei and Waimarino. Funds raised remain in Wanganui and will go towards offering education and support programmes to people living with dementia and their families, weekly community activities for those socially isolated through memory loss and monthly support groups for carers.
Jenny Spence, Alzheimers Wanganui manager, said with more than a quarter of Wanganui's population aged over 65, and the age at which the risk of dementia increases considerably, the need for Alzheimers support work in the community would continue to grow.
"We've had more referrals already this year than we had for all of 201," Ms Spence said.
Ms White's show will be held at Wanganui Racecourse Eulogy Lounge.
Tickets cost $30 and include a glass of wine on arrival and supper and are available from Alzheimer's Centre, Suite 5, 136 Victoria Ave, Wanganui.
