Operatunity's latest show pays tribute to the Andrews Sisters and Glenn Miller.

This show is sure to have audiences swinging along as they remember all the hits from these two musical icons of the 1950s.

The show will be led by Tizane McEvoy, a regular performer with Operatunity, and her Velvetine Trio.

McEvoy is an award-winning actress and singer who has performed numerous leading roles in opera and music theatre in such shows as Shortland Street the Musical, Grease, The Secret Garden, The Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore, South Pacific and The Sound of Music. She has been a guest soloist with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and has performed with world-class opera stars including Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Simon O'Neill, Andrea Bocelli and Teddy Tahu Rhodes. Recently Tizane performed as a soloist with the APO alongside Simon O'Neill in the 21st anniversary concert for Rotorua's Lakeside Charitable Trust.

In March, McEvoy and fellow Operatunity performers, singer Alex Milligan and pianist Reg Towers, performed a free concert for the residents of earthquake-hit Kaikoura. As part of an Operatunity fundraising effort, the trio gave a concert of light classical, opera and show tunes followed by a free afternoon tea.

After her starring role in Glenn Miller & the Andrews Sisters, McEvoy will also be singing in the next Operatunity show From Phantom to Les Mis, touring New Zealand in May-June, where she will sing a showcase of songs from modern musicals including Phantom of the Opera, Les Misreables, Evita, Miss Saigon, Cats and more.

Operatunity's Glenn Miller & the Andrews Sisters will perform at the Whanganui War Memorial Hall, Watt St, on April 11 at 11am. Tickets available at www.operatunity.co.nz or call 0508 266 237.
